The first rule of smart home is products should be invisible, meaning that your family doesn’t notice an unusual appearance or behavior of a device. Shelly Vintage smashes that rule – it’s made to be seen!
Smart bulbs are a great solution for people who want smart home technology but don’t feel comfortable with electrical installation. Bulbs are inexpensive, have varying levels of smart features, come in various sizes/shapes/colors/protocols, and are as easy to install as… screwing in a light bulb.
There are a few drawbacks for bulbs. They only work when the lamp or light circuit is turned on, the sheer number of manufacturers means great variation in quality, and some of them look ugly.
The Shelly Vintage bulbs are one exception. These products combine all of the features you expect from a Shelly smart device with beautiful styling. When I pulled these bulbs out of their boxes, my wife said “Wow!,” which she’s never said about any smart home product in the past.
The Vintage G40 is a great example. Here, you can see it compared to a standard A19 LED bulb – roughly three times larger.
Installation is simple. Screw in the bulb, turn on the switch, open the Shelly app, and add it like any other Shelly smart home product.
Here’s a vanity light strip using six Vintage G40 bulbs.
This is a picture of the same light strip with the bulbs turned on and dimmed to 35%.

Shelly Vintage G40 and the other Vintage models are available for order from the Shelly USA site.
